Seventy Five Years Ago

In the present state of medical science, this subject is no doubt an obscure one, but it is highly interesting to the general pathologist and the scientist as well. Sir Joseph Fayrer, in his ? Dissertation on Elephantiasis of the Scrotum, has made a few remarks on the probable relation between lunar influence and the progress of elephantoid disease; but evidently from paucity of facts, he failed to make any generalisation or to offer any theortical explanation of this knotty question. In this paper, it is my intention to collate some stray facts, and to invite intelligent discussion on a subject which has hitherto attracted but little notice. Even if I go astray in drawing inferences, my errors may set the minds of others at work, and may be the means of' bringing both them and me to a knowledge of the truth.
